Thanks to technology, we are productive in ways we never could have imagined 20 years ago. But the price we’re paying is high. Mounting research tells us that our sedentary lifestyles — sitting at the computer for 8-plus hours a day– is ruining our health and well-being.
If you’re not exercising or if you are adding processed foods to your daily grind behind your desk, you could be working yourself into an earlier grave. If that sounds over-dramatic, check out the graphic below, and ask yourself if any of these statistics worry you.
And if you do sit long periods behind the laptop, make sure you counter balance your sitting time with stretching, water breaks, long walks and anything else that will get your blood flowing.
