In Wisconsin, it’s still incredibly cold, and a number of us (a number that’s growing by the day) are starting to wonder if warmth and spring will ever arrive. If it’s warm where you are, let it be known that many of us here at NHC are jealous.
Cold weather sometimes makes it pretty difficult to get rid of cabin fever. It also makes it difficult to take your workouts outside. While it’s definitely possible, it’s not ideal for a number of people.
That’s one of the reasons why I’ve chosen another body weight workout this week. I wanted to post something that can be done outside, and, contrary to its name, can also be done inside, especially if it’s still freezing where you live.
The Backyard Bodyweight Workout
This week’s workout comes to us from Muscle & Strength, and while it’d be nice to be able to complete this one outdoors, it might not be possible yet, depending on where you live.
While, we’d love it if you could enjoy this workout in the sun, if you can’t, that isn’t a problem. Â The Backyard Bodyweight Workout includes 8 simple moves that can be done just about anywhere, and the entire routine can be done by kids and adults. The best part? It takes less than 30 minutes to complete!
Cool Down & Recovery
Why do we cool down after every workout? Simple. Cool down exercises are what help your body make the transition from the hard work you do to complete your routine to a period of rest and recovery.
This week, let’s maintain the theme of simplicity with some jumping jacks for a cool-down. Just 5 or 10 is a good number and will help work and relax your muscles at the same time.
After your cool-down should come water and protein. If you’re looking for quality protein supplements that don’t sacrifice taste, check out some of my favorites below:
- French Vanilla Vega One All-in-One Nutritional Shake by Vega
- Aqua Sportmixer Blender Bottle from BlenderBottle
- Premium Vanilla Whey Protein (Enhanced Formula) by NOW Foods
- Warrior Blend Chocolate Protein from Sunwarrior
Have you done any bodyweight workouts this year so far? Are you seeing good results? We’d love to hear your stories. Please leave us a comment below and don’t forget to subscribe to receive these posts by email!
