What is Talc?

Talc is a mineral made from the elements magnesium, silicon, and oxygen. Because of its ability to easily absorb moisture, it is commonly used in after shower and beauty products such as talcum powder. The problem is, in its natural form, some talc contains asbestos, a highly toxic substance that is known to cause cancer if it’s inhaled.

Johnson & Johnson denies that its products contain asbestos, but records shown in court show that small traces of the substance were detected periodically, and the company covered up the findings. More lawsuits against the health and beauty giant are pending.
