Psoriasis Healing Secrets

When your skin looks nice, don’t you feel good about yourself? But if your skin is acting up, you can feel lousy for many reasons. This is what life is like for many people who suffer from psoriasis. Since it’s Psoriasis Awareness Month, let’s take a look at a few facts on psoriasis:

Psoriasis facts:

  • Psoriasis is the most common autoimmune disease in the U.S., affecting as many as 7.5 million Americans.
  • Psoriasis occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells, resulting in painful red, scaly patches on the body that bleed and itch.
  • Psoriasis is not contagious.
  • Psoriasis frequently occurs with a range of other health concerns including diabetes, hypertension, heart attack and depression.
  • Psoriasis impacts the emotions. Nearly 70% of people with psoriasis say their disease makes them feel self-conscious, embarrassed and helpless.
  • Up to 30 percent of people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis, which causes pain, swelling and stiffness around the joints.
  • There currently is no cure for psoriasis.

There are a number of treatment options for psoriasis that you can read about on WebMD. The article  recommends some of the same natural treatments also found in this article from Mercola.com. These remedies include, saltwater compresses with a high quality salt,  vitamin D, a high quality fish oil or krill, and probiotics and diet changes. You’ve heard it said many times – there is a direct connection between the gut and your health. In this case, it’s the connection between the gut and the health of your skin. You’ll want to avoid foods to which you may be sensitive or allergic. Remember, inflammation is at the root of so many health concerns and psoriasis is inflammation of the skin. Since psoriasis is an internal problem that manifests itself on the outstide, for starters, you might try an elimination diet. Start by eliminating wheat (gluten), then try milk and eggs. You may see results in a week or less.

You should even try getting out in the sun! Just don’t let yourself start to burn. The UVB rays are very beneficial for treating psoriasis. Avoid topical creams with steroids – they can have some serious side effects and can really mess with your adrenal system. The article from WebMD suggested you put “vegetable oils or shortening” on your skin to keep it moisturized. Hmmm, maybe not!  Most vegetable oils like corn or canola are rancid, so you’ll want to stick with a healthy oil like organic, extra virgin coconut oil.

If you’re trying the natural approaches listed above, but you need some quick  natural relief, we recommend Tea Tree and E Antispetic Crème and Psorzema® Crème from Derma e®.

Here’s a testimonial right from a Derma e® customer….

“To All the Skeptics: It’s Possible!
I was diagnosed with Psoriasis a little over a year ago. It was severe, covering my entire body and was not responding to any medications. Months went by and my condition went from bad to worse, truly affecting the quality of my life. After doing some online research, I found derma e® and read several testimonials from fellow Psoriasis sufferers that the Tea Tree and E Antispetic Crème and Psorzema® Crème really worked. I was very skeptical that natural creams would help, as my condition was severe and prescription medications were not even denting the issue.

I purchased a jar of each product and began using the Tea Tree & E Crème at night and the Psorzema® Crème during the day. After 1 week, my skin was feeling much better. After a month, the sores began to heal. Today, after about 3 months, my skin is mostly clear and the creams actually help to diffuse break outs. My skin is soft, moisturized and calm, and my skin tone has evened out where the scarring was occurring. The Tea Tree and E Crème has also helped clear my husband’s acne-prone skin and has even helped with issues like Athlete’s foot and healing minor scrapes and cuts.”
