Natural Solutions for Unnatural Pain

Pain Awareness

According to Nature’s Pathways, the intention of Pain Awareness Month in September is to raise awareness about the prevalence of pain and the available treatment options. 4 in 5 people will experience some form of physical pain in their lives whether it’s chronic or acute.

What does chronic pain feel like?

Imagine wrapping a blood pressure-cuff around your leg, pumping it until it just started to hurt and leaving it on for the rest of the day. The pressure in the leg begins to throb and shoot up and down the ligament. No matter how badly it hurts, you cannot take it off or loosen the grip. Then imagine that feeling every day while knowing it will not go away and it just continues to exist. THAT is what it feels like to live with chronic pain.

What is considered chronic pain?

  • An injury or pain that lasts longer than 3 to 6 months
  • Aches or shooting pain that occurs in one or more places in the body
  • An injury that continues long after it “heals”

A person living with chronic pain may have limited mobility and a lack of energy. It could affect a person’s ability to work and live a normal, healthy life. Living with this type of “chronic injury” can also have an emotional effect; such as depression or anxiety.

Living with chronic pain can be frustrating, but even a little relief can make all the difference.

When I started working for Natural Healthy Concepts, most of the supplements and ingredients were completely foreign.  As a new employee and long-time chronic pain patient, I have been determined to find the best resources for lowering or managing my pain.

I have experienced different levels of chronic pain for the last 15 years. Throughout the years I’ve tried anything and everything to find relief – some methods have been more effective than others. As I get older I am looking for more natural solutions to promote longevity and decrease side effects related to traditional pharmaceuticals.

Do you have pain?

If you’re anything like me, you have probably attempted a number of methods to find relief. I’ve tried steroid injections, muscle relaxers, opioid therapy, physical therapy, yoga, tens unit, chiropractors, massage therapy and more!

Are you looking for natural relief but having a hard time understanding what product or nutrient might be the most effective for you? Allow me to break it down for you

Vitamin Code Raw B-Complex

Vitamin Code Raw B-Complex: To improve general fatigue from chronic pain, I’ve incorporated Raw B-Complex into my morning and evening routine. This supplement is made from 22 raw fruits and veggies. You can combine the vitamin into a juice or smoothie for a morning boost! By adding this supplement, I’ve noticed less fatigue throughout the day and a slight increase in energy depending on the day.

CuraminCuramin: Chronic pain can cause your muscles to be on “high-alert” – even while at rest. So with my muscles in a consistent fight-or-flight mode, I decided to add Curamin tablets to my morning routine. This supplement features curcumin – which naturally decreases inflammation. It is also great for individuals experiencing post workout pain or muscle fatigue from daily strenuous activity.

Black Currant OilBlack Currant Oil: According to WebMD.com, black currant can be used to treat symptoms of PMS, painful periods, headaches, arthritis, gout, joint pain, diarrhea, colic, inflammation, and urine flow. I started taking this supplement to improve migraines associated with hormone imbalances. I’ve noticed a significant difference in the severity and frequency of headaches in a short amount of time.

Yogi Kava Stress ReliefYogi Kava Stress Relief Tea: Personally, I find it very difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep – especially on bad pain days. I discovered Kava tea several years ago and found it highly effective. Kava root is cultivated and used to calm the body and relax the mind for a restful night’s sleep. Though it doesn’t promise to keep me asleep, it does help me to fall asleep quickly.

Though I have only been on these supplements for a week or 2, I am encouraged by the small amount of relief that is already taking place. It gives me hope that long-term use will be the most effective to relieve my pain.

Here are some other items that I plan to try in the future:

Pain X Plus by BioGenesis: This supplement is a blend of botanicals and caffeine that can relieve minor aches and pains. It’s made with white willow bark – also known as Salicin.

Glucosamine & Chondroitin: Supports healthy joint structure and movement. Glucosamine is also known for providing muscle pain relief.

Hylands Leg Cramps: As a person with fibromyalgia and sciatica (to name a few), I’m very intrigued by what this product might do for the painful pressure points in my legs. This supplement supports the relief of pain often made worse during damp weather.
