Astaxanthin 4Mg, 60 Softgels, Jarrow Formulas is a great supplement for sun protection.
I use it for joint relief and sun protection.

How about taking care of our feet? They can get so dry and cracked in the summer heat especially down here in the low-country of SC where we go bare footed or in flip-flops all the time! For Feets Sake Soft Foot Soak: OR if you’re on the go, the For Feets Sake scrub:

  3. Cindy June 13, 2013 at 11:24 am #

Curcumin is good for so many things! Great as an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant which is helpful with all the sun and sports we do in the summer (better than advil when used regularly for muscle/joint pain). Helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels and supports brain, liver and digestive function for all of those summer cookouts and parties!

Aloe Vera gel for sun scorched skin. Keeps it cool and soft.

Haha! Well, that’s a great thing to have around the house!! Thanks, Shelby ; )

I was thinking that an allergy product would be a good idea during a season filled with those allergic to pollen and hay fever. It also seems to be a time that sinus infections, headaches and ear problems are more common. I found this link to a product that uses natural homeopathic remedies.

  7. leigh June 13, 2013 at 12:27 pm #

I’d LOVE to see a great argan oil included – for post sun healing, hair treatment, lips, dry skin from too much swimming, and more….tons of vitamin E and a great antioxidant. A true super-oil!

Or, a simpler apre-sun treatment, aloe vera. Store in refrigerator for a cooling treat after sun & wind exposure.

The summer is a time people are more active playing sports and exercising with those muscle and joint pains needing a little extra help at times in relieving the aches and pains.
I found a great product for relief of muscle and joint aches due to Arthritis Pain, Strained Muscle Pain, Back Pain, Painful Joints, Strains and Sprains, Muscle Spasms, Neck, Hip and Leg Pain and Shoulder or Arm Discomfort. I think this about covers it all. This pain-relieving gel comes in either roll-on or tube. Sounds like something every household could use. I know I could certainly use a case of this stuff. : )

My suggestion to complete this wonderful assortment of skin care products would be the
Carrot and Chamomile Skin Care Bar or another soap, to remove everything with the nightly shower.
Nibbling on the Paleo bars would be fun too.

  10. Juliana June 13, 2013 at 1:50 pm #

Can’t live without aloe for soothing sunburns and scrapes. A great lightweight moisturizer as well.

  11. Carol Nordin June 13, 2013 at 1:56 pm #

I chose the all natural Hand Sanz Antiseptic Hand Sanitizer with Moisturizers because of the convenience and because it is free of the usual anti-biotic formulas that are creating super bugs from the overuse of pharmaceutical antibiotics. This hand sanitizer uses natural grapefruit, orange and lime seed oils to kill germs effectively. All Terrain has omitted the usal Carbomer, a synthetic polymer that is commonly used to thicken and add moisture. Instead they use a natural wood cellulose. During the busy summer months especially, an effective yet safe hand sanitizer will keep our families and friends safe from germs while enjoying the many outdoor activities we all love. Plus we can have peace of mind knowing that we are not creating super bugs in the process.

No problem in our house our pets are treated with the same love as my 2 cats and a dog lol 🙂

My vote for any first aid kit!

The pellets can be tucked in your pack for any mishaps out in the field, hiking, or playing; the gel is for followup or just easing achy, overworked muscles. Really works to reduce inflammation and bruising while speeding healing.

  21. Georgia Beckman June 13, 2013 at 4:07 pm #

With 14 grandchildren going all different directions in the summer, they are always on the forefront of my mind. Are they eating enough? Are they eating right? The activities of summer can quickly drain them. For that reason, I would choose to add the Biofocus Bar Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch. Two birds, one stone. ’nuff said.

  22. Stacy H. June 13, 2013 at 7:49 pm #

For us it has to be an allergy relief product. My poor little guy has awful allergies in the summer.

  23. Tanya Donahue June 14, 2013 at 7:51 am #

Summer…busy days playing hard in the sun. I’d add arnica Montana topical pain relief. Help for those hard working muscles on parents and children alike. Because who wants sore achy muscles during the funnest months of the year?

  24. Elizabeth June 14, 2013 at 8:14 am #

Everything in the kit is for the outside of the body but with all the summer barbeques and parties that occur I hear a fair amount of complaints from my friends about upset stomachs, heartburn & overeating. I would recommend an enzyme like Digest ( for the first aid kit. Heartburn is not a good indicator that there’s too much acid. The average person, especially as we age, tends to not have enough HCL.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck June 14, 2013 at 8:27 am #

Great idea! People in Wisconsin can relate to the heartburn with their love for brats. ; )

  25. Amy Tolley June 15, 2013 at 3:22 pm #

    May support positively enhancing mood*
May support enhancing the sleep cycle*
May support reducing discomfort in patients with chronic pain*
May support reducing carbohydrate intake for natural weight loss support*

all these reasons are why i chose this product…i am in need of help in all these areas..thanks..

  26. Jessica Weaver June 15, 2013 at 3:40 pm #

How about a relaxing way to end a nice summer day is by giving your littles one a soothing relaxing lavender scented bubble bath.

    • Jessica Weaver June 16, 2013 at 5:32 pm #

Please disregard this as an entry. I was reading that two entires would disqualify me 🙁 I hope I didnt mess up my chances. So sorry

      • Ashley Steinbrinck June 16, 2013 at 8:33 pm #

No worries, you won’t be disqualified!

        • Jessica Weaver June 16, 2013 at 9:06 pm #

          thank you 🙂

  27. Desirae June 15, 2013 at 6:52 pm #

To keep my face hydrated and wrinkle free after the fun in the sun. My choice would be
Facial Cream Italian Red Mandarin w/ Rose.

Aloe Soothing Gel is the product I would add. After a day at the beach yesterday without Summer Survival Natural Sun Spray, I need the Aloe Soothing Gel. It is an essential for me and my children and grandchildren’s summer survival.

  30. heta s June 17, 2013 at 6:33 am #

I would like I have heard lots of uses of lemon grass for skin care but haven’t really tried it.

  31. Nann W June 17, 2013 at 11:01 am #

This is what I would add. While sun block does help protect your skin, anything over a SPF 15 blocks 97% of Vit D production. Vitamin D is important for our immune systems and being that 50-60% of Americans are deficient in this important hormone, boosting levels can help keep us healthy and out on the trial a little longer 🙂

  32. Stephanie H. June 17, 2013 at 11:41 am #
This makes a total package of before and after care 🙂

  33. Shirley Mathewson June 17, 2013 at 4:24 pm #

Hydration is so important in the summer heat:

Also, refreshing with lemon/or lime slices & ice.

  34. Karen June 17, 2013 at 7:44 pm #

We don’t go anywhere – in any season – without our Vitamineral Green capsules!

Both my daughter and I have auto-immune issues. Since taking Vitamineral Greens for the past two plus years, we have turned our lives around and take our VG’s everywhere. We just took a three week vacation – on airplanes and then 1600 miles in a rental car – with enough Vitamineral Greens to last us the entire trip, and we didn’t get sick….during or after the trip.

Heal the body from the inside out!

    • Ashley Steinbrinck June 20, 2013 at 9:10 am #

That’s awesome! Wow, thank you for sharing that with others who might deal with the same issues ; ) – thanks for playing!

  35. Jennifer Lundquist June 18, 2013 at 10:14 pm #

I think the product “Traumeel ointment & tablet combo pack” needs to be in everyone’s survival kit. Helps with all the bumps, bruises, sprains and strains that come with activities in the summer.

Myself and my middle son both suffer from severe summer allergies. Sagebrush, dirt blowing in the wind, horses, cats, pollen, you name it! I have giving them OTC meds, and this year I will be looking for something more natural, so my pick:

    • Ashley Steinbrinck June 20, 2013 at 9:08 am #

Make the most of essential oil! Its hair treatments are highly effective, especially in the case of lice and dandruff. The oil has a cooling effect on the head, which in turn improves blood circulation in the scalp.
