I choose a probiotic because someone once told me that if your going to give your kiddos vitamins/supplements the three most important ones are: Mulit-Vitamin, Omega-3 and a probiotic

Mega Probiotic ND, 120 Vcaps, DaVinci
Mega Probiotic-ND by DaVinci Laboratories of Vermont is a is a non-dairy vegetarian probiotic supplement for kids and adults.

Believe it or not, D3! Our son plays soccer all summer long yet he tested low for D3 and it’s so important for their immune systems.

    Take care, everyone!

I agree that a probiotic would be the next thing to add. I chose Flora Boost Probiotic for Kids, partly because it doesn’t require refrigeration.

This backpack and the supplements are a great way to start school.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 5, 2013 at 1:17 pm #

It does seem easier when you don’t have to refrigerate them. Thanks, Linda!

  4. Karla OBrien August 5, 2013 at 12:31 pm #

This is great for the digestive tract-healthy flora and fauna.
Also wonderful for the immune system-valuable for children in school in the fall and winter.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 5, 2013 at 1:17 pm #

Good one, Karla! This is a popular product – Thanks for participating ; )

My first thought was probiotics like most of the other comments. But in our house there are 2 other supplements that are a must for back to school season.
We always keep Coldcalm in the house because back to school means the beginning of cold and flu season.
My son has trouble focusing on his work, staying still, paying attention to his teacher and being quiet during class. Attentive Child helps my son with all of these things. Not to mention it keeps him off of prescription ADHD meds. (BTW, thank you NHC for keeping this item affordable!)

  7. amy dripps August 5, 2013 at 1:21 pm #

for immunity support and digestive health!

  8. Jeane Campbell August 5, 2013 at 2:13 pm #

Thanks, Melissa for the heads up on Coldcalm. Going to get some and put it in the house for that “just in case” night…

    Kids Rescue Remedy
    10 Ml, Bach Flower Essences

Rescue Remedy can be used for so many different situations. It is truly a multitasking formula.

Aside: Not that I’m comparing kids and animals (hee hee): My cat was dying. I took here to the vet who told me to take her home and comfort her while she died. I left in tears and started praying to save my cat. I got the message to give her some Rescue Remedy. I diluted some in a little water and used a dropper to put it in her mouth. Two hours later my cat was up on her feet, next day she was climbing the fence. She was 7 at the time, she’s now 18. She’s NEVER been to another vet.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 5, 2013 at 3:12 pm #

Nice one! Thanks, Roberta – and that’s a great story about your cat! Thank you for sharing!

Our children need healthy guts which means live probiotics are a must!!!

  11. Susan August 5, 2013 at 3:50 pm #

Extra protein and amino acids to help with concentration, focus and energy. This has some of the things needed to produce glutathione to help keep the methylation pathways working. That helps with brain power (among so many other important things).

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 5, 2013 at 3:52 pm #

A good addition Susan, fyi – you have to have an account and be logged in to view this product

  12. P Carman August 5, 2013 at 4:29 pm #

I also believe that a probiotic would be the next item that should be added to the list for a great starting regimen of supplements for kids. Maintaining a healthy intestinal tract goes a long way towards achieving and maintaining overall good health. Since the other three supplements are “kid friendly” in the sense that they are great tasting gummies/chewables, I would recommend the “Dino-Dophilus Probiotic 2 Billion Black Cherry” flavored chewable tablet as the perfect complement to the other three supplements in the list.

The vast majority of health issues in all people, kids included, originates from an unhealthy “gut”. A healthy “gut” is crucial for the optimal performance of all body systems. Supplementing with a probiotic is a key part in our quest for achieving and sustaining good health.

    Best regards.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 5, 2013 at 4:57 pm #

You got it, P Carman! Great explanation of your choice – thanks for playing!

  13. Catherine Hoffman August 5, 2013 at 5:36 pm #

Umcka ColdCare Childrens Cherry, 10 Packets, Natures Way. Despite our best preventative efforts, kids can get sick. We need to have something extra for colds, just in case.

  14. Heidi Herbert August 5, 2013 at 6:07 pm #

    Conditioner & Detangler Vanilla Tangerine

    8 Oz, Natures Baby Organics
Because you have to look “school-ready” and manageable hair is important!

  15. Ann Gee August 5, 2013 at 6:57 pm #

All Natural Sunscreen for Baby & Family SPF30, 3.4 Oz, True Natural Spa

I chose All Natural Sunscreen product as the kids will be outside during the hottest part of the day at school playing. Everybody’s skin needs to be protected from UV rays and the sun no matter what time of year or what season to prevent skin cancer in the future. This products is also made from natural products and can be used by the whole family, child to adult.

  16. Rosann August 5, 2013 at 9:11 pm #

I think probiotics are important because when your gut functions properly, the rest of your body has a better chance of staying healthy too! This probiotic would be a good edition to digestive health.

That’s a great giveaway, by the way!! Thank you for giving us a chance to win! 🙂

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 6, 2013 at 8:58 am #

You’re welcome! We appreciate your participation ; ) And you are right, probiotics are super important!

  17. Amy Rutherford-Close August 5, 2013 at 10:04 pm #

I see many agree about Probiotics!!
My 3 boys health has been dramatically changed by giving them daily doses.
So much of our health is in the gut and we destroy it with poor eating and the toxins in our world!

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 6, 2013 at 8:59 am #

So glad to hear your boys are benefiting from the probiotics! It is such a helpful supplement for everyone, you’re right Amy!

  18. Lynzzy August 6, 2013 at 3:05 am #

I believe it’s time to give the Elderberry Syrup because my kids always get sick

just after school starts. Should be loading-up on Elderberry syrup now.

    • Ashley Steinbrinck August 6, 2013 at 9:00 am #

That’s a great choice – good stuff and doesn’t even taste so bad! Thanks, Lynzzy!

  19. Tanya Donahue August 6, 2013 at 5:02 am #

School is such a busy time of year. Why not give your kids what they need for day. This drink gives them essential nutrients to help them stay focused throughout the day. Vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. What more could you want?

  20. Donella Pues August 6, 2013 at 11:37 am #

I choose probiotics because so many children do not have healthy gut flora. This is probably the reason for the increase of the diagnosis ADHD/ADD. Nobody in the healthcare field checks your child’s gut flora and with all the processed foods on the market it is a no brainer to have your children on a probiotic!!!

  21. Karen Sterioti August 6, 2013 at 3:07 pm #

I would definitely include vitamin C in the back to school supplement bag! It’s great for building immunity, which is very important when the kids are going to be around a lot of other kids and possibly introduced to harmful bacteria and viruses. I like this vitamin C because it’s all natural, tastes great, and is buffered so it’s more gentle on the stomach.

  22. Lilia McClements August 7, 2013 at 3:43 am #

I would include a strong probiotic. When the gut is healthy, the body is stronger. This helps kids fight off infection better, digest their food and basically live healthier lives.

  23. Molly Khanna August 8, 2013 at 12:40 am #

I would include an herbal remedy in with the other supplements. This one contains extracts such as Echinacea Purpurea and Bayberry to naturally combat against the bodies enemies to leave them happy and healthy! These drops can also be diluted in their favorite beverage so there’s no pills to swallow or chew…what more could a kid want?

    • Mary Bloomer August 8, 2013 at 1:56 pm #

You’re so right, Molly, in addition to the critical ingredients, the delivery method of a supplement for children is also very important! Thanks.

  24. Mary Bloomer August 8, 2013 at 2:24 pm #
