Chiropractic adjustments are one of the best things that can be done for both mother and newborn!

How Chiropractic Is Linked To Your Nervous System

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your nervous system controls the function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body.

Nerve impulse is an electrical impulse from the brain that regulates all functions of the body and keeps us alive.

A chiropractor primarily deals with one thing – the Sub-lux-a-tion. A subluxation is a misaligned vertebra which interferes with the nerve impulse (life force). Your chiropractic doctor removes this interference to health with spinal adjustments.

Chiropractic Benefits During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time in a women’s life when she needs to have her body as healthy and strong as possible for childbirth and motherhood.

Chiropractic care can help insure that the reproductive and other systems essential for a healthy pregnancy, receive optimal nerve supply from the spinal cord. Because, the slightest interference to this nerve supply could adversely affect the mother and developing fetus.

As pregnancy progresses, the body will go through changes both physically and hormonally. Misalignments of the spine can occur as the fetus grows, putting excessive force on the middle back, low back, pelvis, sacrum and tailbone. Getting adjustments will help pregnant mothers to be more comfortable throughout their pregnancy.

Another great benefit of getting alignments of the spine and pelvis during pregnancy is the way that it assists with proper movement (opening) of the pelvis during delivery. This means shorter labor and delivery time! Routine adjustments may even help prevent pre-term labor, malpositions or malpresentation (Breech, Transverse, or any alteration or normal presentation of the head).

Chiropractic Benefits For Infants

Research has found that chiropractic care can help infants with breastfeeding problems, sleeplessness, colic, irritability, and ear infections.

The delivery process, especially a difficult one, can adversely effect the infant and cause neurological problems and/or underlying health problems.

The birth process places great physical stress on the infants head, neck and entire spine. This stress can cause misalignments in the infant’s spine and possible interference with their nervous system function and overall health.

Unique to infants is their typical pattern of cranial sacral involvement. Typically, cranial bones may misalign during the birth process, altering the shape of the infant’s head. Such misalignment impacts the infant’s jaw and mouth leading to breastfeeding issues. By working with the cranium, upper cevical spine and sacrum your chiropractor is able to balance their systems.

Infant care is specific and requires special training and equipment. As with adults, every health condition found in infants can be related back to a specific nerve involvement.

Specially trained chiropractors use gentle adjustments specific to the infant’s spine to remove subluxations (a misaligned vertebra which interferes with the nerve impulse) before they have lasting negative effects.

Chiropractic revives the body’s own inborn healing ability naturally- without drugs or surgery.
