Cardio-Kickboxing-Featured

Over the past few years, kickboxing has really exploded throughout the fitness scene, from kickboxing-centered workouts to gyms that are entirely devoted to kickboxing (like 9Round here in Appleton). To some, it all seems like a fad, but kickboxing is here to stay.

Whether you’re new to the sport or have been into it for a while now, you’ll love this week’s workout. You’ll burn calories and work on strength in just 20 minutes. Read on, and let’s get started!

Why Kickboxing?

That’s one of the biggest questions that most people have. Why should I try kickboxing?

The short and sweet of it is, that while kickboxing is super popular (and maybe that isn’t your thing), it also provides a pretty amazing set of health benefits. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

  • It’s a total-body workout. Kickboxing doesn’t just focus on one part of your body or one muscle group like some exercise routines might. You’ll be working numerous muscle groups and getting a good cardio workout, too!
  • Kickboxing builds strength. Regular kickboxing routines help build lower and upper-body strength. Your hamstrings get a workout, and so do your abs, which helps you build a strong ad healthy core.
  • It’ll improve your hand-eye coordination and your balance. This is likely one of the benefits nobody really thinks about, but the kicks and punches in kickboxing help you improve your balance, as well as your coordination.
  • Kickboxing also helps maintain a healthy body weight. This benefit shouldn’t be surprising. All that moving you’ll be doing helps burn calories, and that can aid in weight loss. So, not only will you be building strength and muscle, you’ll be maintaining a healthy weight, too!
