Learn 4 possible arjuna side effects, as well as dosage recommendations.
Arjuna bark extract is a highly regarded supplement for use in supporting overall heart health. Many studies have proven its many benefits, and when taken as directed it appears to be safe for consumption by healthy adults. There are some arjuna side effects, however, that you should be aware of before you add it to your daily supplement routine. Read ahead to find out more.
Where Does Arjuna Come From?
Arjuna is an herb that is extracted from the bark of the arjuna tree. This tree is native to India and has been used as a âheart tonicâ within the ancient Ayurveda medical system for thousands of years. Itâs use is still highly recommended by herbalists today and is offered conveniently in supplement capsule or powder form.
Recommended Dosage
Because there are some potential unwanted arjuna side effects, itâs recommended that you follow dosage guidelines according to the supplement you are taking. The most common internal supplement dosage recommendation is 500 mg, three times a day, separated by eight hours. Arjuna may interfere with prescription medications recommended by your doctor, so itâs important to discuss your interest in using arjuna with your healthcare provider before adding any new supplements to your daily routine.
Possible Arjuna Side Effects
Typically, arjuna is well tolerated by most people. In the beginning stages of use, you may notice some mild arjuna side effects, however. They include:
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Stomach Upset (constipation and/or diarrhea)
- Temporary Temperature Increase (Flushing)
Arjuna is not generally recommended for pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding. Talk to your healthcare provider first before taking arjuna.
Arjuna Common Uses
Despite the mild possible side effects, arjuna is generally considered safe for use in most people. Itâs most commonly used to maintain heart health and may help maintain blood sugar levels already in normal range. For these purposes, there is a good deal of positive scientific research. More studies are being conducted as well to determine whether arjuna may impact other areas of health as well.
