Super Bowl 50 â the pinnacle of the NFL season â is just a few days away, and many people are planning a big party to not only watch the game, but also celebrate the 50th anniversary of it. With any party comes fantastic spreads of everything from chicken wings to sandwiches, and of course, chips and dips.
Everyone loves a good bowl of chili cheese dip, but there are a number of other fantastic options that are much better for your health. We’ve rounded some of them up this week, so let’s get started!
Healthy Dip Recipes for Game Day
Spicy Blue Cheese Dip

This first recipe shouldn’t be too surprising. After all, what’s Game Day without fantastic blue cheese dip to go with your wings and veggies?
EatingWell magazine takes the simplicity of blue cheese dip and gives it a spicy kick by adding cayenne pepper (and if you’re not a fan of spice, go ahead and omit the cayenne), which may help maintain a healthy digestive system. This dip goes well with wings, veggies, and a lot more!

Roasted Carrot Dip

This dip may not be everyone’s favorite, but it sure is tasty. The blend of flavors from the roasted carrots, honey, cumin, and paprika really complement each other, and provide a delicious dip for veggie sticks, chips, and anything else you’d like to try.
Not only does this dip taste good, it’s good for you, too. Carrots are packed with vitamin A, an essential nutrient for optimal eye and vision health. Plus, the cumin supports healthy digestion and may even give you a cognitive boost as well.

Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus

If you’re a fan of hummus, but have never made your own, you’re truly missing out. This recipe for cilantro jalapeno hummus from Kim Lee over at Kim’s Cravings is a great choice for your first homemade batch.
You already know chickpeas are the ingredient in hummus, but when you add a couple chopped jalapenos and a handful of cilantro, you’ve got a dip that’s much more flavorful than anything you could get at your local store.

Healthy Cookie Dough Dip

I’m sure you’re probably thinking, “What? How is that even healthy?” It is healthy! While this fantastic recipe from Katie at Chocolate-Covered Katie looks like a bowl of raw cookie dough, it isn’t.
So, what is it?
Katie describes it as “an unbaked form of those popular white bean chickpea blondies,” and it pretty much is. Even if you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing the finish blondies, this dip still tastes fantastic. It’s sure to be a hit with everyone on game day!

Healthy Mexican Layer Dip

Seven layer dips are always a huge hit at any party, and if you’re a fan of the taste, but not the level of unhealthiness that may come with them, you’re in luck!
Megan over at Detoxinista offers up a recipe for Mexican layer dip with a healthy twist that still tastes just as delicious as any other you’ve had. She says, “the preparation can be as easy or as labor-intensive as you choose,” which is good news if you’re in a pinch for time.
The recipe calls for a homemade “cheese” sauce (this is a vegan recipe, so if you want actual cheese, go ahead and use it) that adds a great-tasting layer without having to worry about dairy-related digestive troubles.

Healthy Black Bean Dip

What would a Super Bowl party be without black bean dip? You’re probably thinking “refried beans” when you hear the words “bean dip,” but this recipe from Jen over at YummyHealthyEasy is a healthier version of everyone’s favorite bean dip.
Made with black beans, instead of refried, this recipe not only tastes great, but may also benefit your digestive tract and cardiovascular system, and may even help maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Healthy French Onion Dip

French onion dip is another popular dip at most parties, and unfortunately, it’s another one that may not be as healthy as you’d like it to be. Jen and Trevor from Show Me the Yummy have taken the traditional French onion dip and given it a healthy makeover.
Lightened up with healthy non-fat Greek yogurt and olive oil mayo, Jen says it has half the calories of regular French onion dip, and who doesn’t love that? Plus, it’s easy to whip up, so you’ll have more time for the more complicated dishes you’ll be serving your party guests.
