Paleo Dark Chocolate With Coconut Oil
First, a classic recipe from All Recipes.
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Over medium-low heat, gently melt the coconut oil in a medium saucepan.
- Stir in cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla extract until well-blended
- Pour the mixture into a candy mold or flexible tray
- Refrigerate until chilled (about an hour)
- Break into pieces and serve!
Homemade Coconut Oil Chocolate With Toppings
If you like to mix things up a bit, this recipe starts with a slightly different chocolate base, and has a lot of different delicious flavor options.
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup cocoa or cacao powder
- 3 tablespoons sweetener (honey, maple syrup, rice syrup, or coconut sugar)
- 1 tablespoon almond butter (or your favorite nut butter)
- Pinch of salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
- Your choice of toppings: pistachios, coconut flakes, cranberry powder, etc.
- Combine all ingredients in a heat-proof bowl.
- Place the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Mix ingredients in the bowl until everything is combined and looks like smooth chocolate.
- Place parchment paper in a loaf tin, cake tin, chocolate mold, or plastic container of your choice.
- Pour the chocolate into your container of choice.
- Put into the freezer for 2-3 hours, or until hard.
- Slice chocolate into whatever sizes or shapes you prefer.
- Serve and enjoy!
Cacao Coconut Blueberry Chocolates

- 1 cup creamed coconut
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 3 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, or another sweetener of your choice)
- 2 teaspoon cacao or cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon blueberry powder
- Place creamed coconut in a bowl of warm water to make it easier to get out of its packaging. Once it’s softened, empty the contents of the package into a small saucepan.
- Heat over low heat.
- Add coconut oil to the creamed coconut and mix the two continuously
- Once melted together, add in maple syrup (or your choice of sweetener). Mix until well-combined.
- Divide the mixture into three small bowls.
- Add cacao or cocoa powder to one bowl.
- Add blueberry power to a different bowl.
- Leave the third bowl plain.
- Create your chocolate layers (in whatever order you choose). Fill a mold one-third of the way with your first layer, and then place in the freezer for about 10 minutes to set.
- After 10 minutes, fill the mold up another third with the next layer. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
- After 10 minutes, fill the mold the final third with the last layer. Place in freezer another 10 minutes to set.
- Store them in the freezer or the fridge.
