Homemade Coconut Oil Chocolate Recipes

Coconut oil and chocolate are a match made in heaven. And for health-conscious cooks, or coconut oil connoisseurs, there’s nothing better than homemade coconut oil chocolate recipes. Best of all, they aren’t expensive.

Here are a few of our favorite melt-in-your-mouth options.

Paleo Dark Chocolate With Coconut Oil

First, a classic recipe from All Recipes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Over medium-low heat, gently melt the coconut oil in a medium saucepan. 
  2. Stir in cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla extract until well-blended
  3. Pour the mixture into a candy mold or flexible tray
  4. Refrigerate until chilled (about an hour)
  5. Break into pieces and serve!

Homemade Coconut Oil Chocolate With Toppings

If you like to mix things up a bit, this recipe starts with a slightly different chocolate base, and has a lot of different delicious flavor options.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup cocoa or cacao powder
  • 3 tablespoons sweetener (honey, maple syrup, rice syrup, or coconut sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (or your favorite nut butter)
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
  • Your choice of toppings: pistachios, coconut flakes, cranberry powder, etc.

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a heat-proof bowl. 
  2. Place the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Mix ingredients in the bowl until everything is combined and looks like smooth chocolate.
  3. Place parchment paper in a loaf tin, cake tin, chocolate mold, or plastic container of your choice.
  4. Pour the chocolate into your container of choice.
  5. Put into the freezer for 2-3 hours, or until hard.
  6. Slice chocolate into whatever sizes or shapes you prefer.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Cacao Coconut Blueberry Chocolates

Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamed coconut
  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, or another sweetener of your choice)
  • 2 teaspoon cacao or cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon blueberry powder

Instructions

  1. Place creamed coconut in a bowl of warm water to make it easier to get out of its packaging. Once it’s softened, empty the contents of the package into a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over low heat.
  3. Add coconut oil to the creamed coconut and mix the two continuously
  4. Once melted together, add in maple syrup (or your choice of sweetener). Mix until well-combined.
  5. Divide the mixture into three small bowls. 
  6. Add cacao or cocoa powder to one bowl.
  7. Add blueberry power to a different bowl.
  8. Leave the third bowl plain.
  9. Create your chocolate layers (in whatever order you choose). Fill a mold one-third of the way with your first layer, and then place in the freezer for about 10 minutes to set.
  10. After 10 minutes, fill the mold up another third with the next layer. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
  11. After 10 minutes, fill the mold the final third with the last layer. Place in freezer another 10 minutes to set.
  12. Store them in the freezer or the fridge.
  13. Enjoy!
