You’ll love this workout fuel for the New Year!

We don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but we humans are kind of predictable. We tend to give into the yummy temptations that surround us during the holidays, and then kick our diets and workouts into high gear as soon as the New Year rolls around. If this sounds like you, don’t worry, you’re not alone. We do it too. So we’re sharing some of our best tips on how to fuel up for a successful and rewarding workout.

Workout Fuel for Your Morning Workout

If you like to get your daily workout done as soon as you wake up, you might not be ready to scarf down a full breakfast before you head to the gym. Some people think they workout better if they don’t eat beforehand, but even just a tiny boost of protein and carbohydrates can help keep your energy up throughout your workout, and it might help you do a little extra. Eat these fuel boosting foods in the morning for optimal results.

Workout Fuel for Your Evening Workout

If you’re not a morning person, it’s okay – some people just prefer to get their workout in towards the end of their day. There are many advantages to this choice. Workouts can help you destress from a long day and can help encourage routine sleep habits. It’s also your chance to burn off some of the calories you consumed throughout the day. You’ll need fuel though since you’re probably working out before dinner, so try these healthy snacks (and hacks) to get you going.

Try These Energy Supplements

Food is not the only source of energy when it comes to a great workout. Energy production really happens at the cellular level (which is supported by your diet). Supplements, and even essential oils can have a big impact on energy production. Here are some you might want to try before your next workout.

At least 30 minutes of cardio exercise a day is recommended for all healthy adults. Depending on your energy levels, this of course can certainly be increased. It’s also a good idea to choose a workout that can give you cardio as well as strength training. Things like swimming, yoga, cycling, rock climbing, and pilates are top choices for full body workouts.
