Almond Chunky Monkey Ice Cream

You’ll go ape when you learn the secret ingredient of this recipe. There’s no milk – not even coconut milk – but it’s still super creamy. And it’s completely raw.

It seems like some sort of magic trick, but the base of this ice cream is actually made from bananas! Mush them up, freeze them and you get sweet, creamy deliciousness. It gets extra smoothness and flavor from almond butter and chunks of crunch from almonds and chocolate. Go with raw, unsalted almonds.

For an extra boost to the potassium and nutrients from the bananas, you can even add some protein powder to this recipe. To keep the flavor a little more neutral, go with this vanilla protein powder. But if you just can’t get enough chocolate, give this one a try. And don’t worry, both of these options are dairy free!

Here’s a neat tip for the chocolate chunks: Try breaking up this chocolate maca bar. Maca is a Peruvian herb that can help give you a boost of energy!

This recipe uses both coconut milk and bananas for optimal creaminess and honey as a natural sweetener. Feel free to add a little more if your berries are a bit tart.

Healthy Chocolate-Mint Ice Cream

This recipe from The Humble Plate really is as healthy as its name promises – and it’s fast, too! If you’re not a fan of coconut milk (and its fat content), this is a great option. The base is actually made using avocado and hemp seeds, giving you healthy fats, protein and plenty of other nutrients. And for natural sweetness, use pure maple syrup, which we’re very happy to now carry at NHC! Finally! (You can also use agave.) And you can get your hemp here, too! Not too familiar with hemp? Take a look.

Put your own spin on it by using your favorite coffee – just make sure it’s strong so you get that great, bold flavor!

For natural, sugarless sweetness, go with Stevia and adjust the amount to meet your taste.
